Persian Village Weaving

This classic pattern is named for Shah Abbas II who ruled Persia from 1642 to 1666 AD. It was under his Safavid-era rule that notable Islamic architecture was created. Also during this time period the tradition of weaving rugs as art was given great emphasis.

Woven in a small central Persian village still using ancient techniques of hand-spinning and hand-dyeing with vegetal roots, berries, leaves and all things natural.
